That was the question a young man asked Jesus in Luke 18. It may be a question you are asking today. It is the most important question anyone can ever ask, because it is the only question that will affect your eternity. And there is only one answer to this question.
The answer to this all-important question is very simple: “Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.” (Acts 16:31)
“What does it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus?” you may be asking. It simply means to put your faith and trust in Him, and to understand that He gave His life as a sacrifice for the sin of all mankind on the cross of Calvary. The Bible says He gave His life as a “ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).
Know that there is no sin that you have committed that disqualifies you for God’s grace and forgiveness. God is not mad at you. On the contrary, He loves you. He desires to establish a relationship with you whereby you can not only receive eternal life in Heaven with Him – but also success, victory, health, goodness, mercy, and many, many other wonderful things on earth as well!
In Romans 10:9, 10 we are told that if we believe with our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, we will be saved. It is as simple as that! No complex rituals. No religious exercises. No membership fees. Just trust and faith in a God who loves us so much that He wanted to make it easy for us to know Him as Savior.
If you want to be saved – to be as sure for Heaven as if you were already there – say this simple prayer:
“Lord God, thank You for sending Your Son to give His life for me. Jesus, thank You for becoming a sacrifice on my behalf. Thank You for making a way for me to have eternal life in Heaven. I receive You as my personal Lord and Savior. I turn my back on sin and choose to live for You as You show me how. Take my life and make it something that can be used for You. Amen.”
That’s it! You are now a Christian! Welcome to the family!
